"It's in the HOLE" #17 @ Stonewolf Golf Club

Our shortest hole on the course, this Par 3 plays between 100 and 150 yards. A large green offers a good birdie chance with a well played short iron from the tee. Hitting either of the greenside bunkers will make for a difficult par save.

Mark Schulte, Jr. had a hole-in-one June 17, 2007 [Father's Day] on hole 17 at Stonewolf Golf Club in Fairview Heights, Illinois.

He used a Pitching Wedge on the 116 yard par 3 hole.

Witnesses to his great achievement were Scott Voelkl, Brian Belgeri & Adam Pocius [left to right in the picture below].

Mark,
So I'm reading the sports section of the STL Post Dispatch and I see that a "Mark Schulte" shot a hole in one at Stonewolf - 116yrds / 7 Iron.

I think to myself, surely there can't be another Mark Schulte living in the St. Louis area.

So I went to your eschulte.com page where you confirmed my suspicions.

Congratulations my friend! I have a copy of the newspaper still and will hold onto it should you not have a copy.

I'm sure it must have been a sweet feeling. Well done...

YES!! I can't believe you saw that!! He went
golfing with a friend of ours and got a hole in one...on Father's day!! It was quite a day around here. I think he called everyone he's ever played golf with!

They took his picture and some info at the course
but he didn't know exactly what for...now we know...

Talk to you soon,
Shannon

Shannon - That is hysterical!! Tell him congrats.
It is really a big deal and on Father's Day!! What a
special memory. I'm embrassed to admit, but I do
not make time to read the newspaper, but my sister-in-law on my side of the family called me b/c she thought it was my brother-in-law who is not a good golfer. My other brother-in-law "Mark Rudder" got his first hole in one early in June. He is 43 years old and a great golfer, so we had it posted on our fridge during our family party for Ginger's b-day.

I can't believe that it was really your Mark!! The
weird thing is I remember him telling me that he
played at Stonewolf when I met him at Elizabeth's
first b-day party. So Odd!

Anyway, I hope to see you guys soon,
Marion

Sorry I haven't posted this sooner. I have been out of town, but I can attest to the validity of this momentous occasion. I will also say that it was one of the most amazing events I have ever seen.

Approaching the seventeenth tee I was commenting on the fact that I was up four strokes with two holes to play. I was doing everything to keep my cool...I have never beaten Mark in a round of Golf...ever. I thought to myself, "If I can place this tee shot on the green, this is over." Needless to say, I stepped up and hit a good shot, not great, but good enough, to the back of the green. I thought that that should do it. Attempting to get into Mark's head a little, I wanted to get my putter in hand as quickly as possible, so I walked directly to the cart and grabbed it and turned around.

On the tee, Mark set himself, viewed his target, and decisively made his swing. I watched him take a pitching wedge three quarters of the way back and hold his follow through halfway staring down the ball as if he was Tiger Woods. I was getting ready to say something smart when it happened...The ball hit the front of the green, bounced once, bounced twice, checked, and began rolling right at the hole. Everyone on the tee box froze. I knew what was happening, but couldn't allow myself to believe what I was seeing.

As the ball dropped in the hole, I turned my head toward Mark and he looked over at us unsure of how to act. Slowly you could see recognition claim his expression as he saw us rushing toward him. He tossed his club, threw his hands in the air, and shouted, "Oh my God! Did that go in?!!!"

It was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen because he meant to hit that shot. I still can't believe it. I shot par on the hole and he gained two strokes. Needless to say, he was in my head now, and I put my next tee shot into the woods. Mark's streak remains in tact and I lost on Father's Day by a stroke, but I will never forget the hole-in-one.

Thanks to "Ace" for letting me play with him that day.
